Rockets: Roosegaarde

Level Two High Power Rocket produced for the 2017 NASA Student Launch Competition.

With ten other members, my school's NASA Student Launch team designed and built a level two high power rocket designed to carry a payload to an apogee of 1 mile. The experimental payload was a drogue parachute with a filter sewn into the spill hole to collect any particles in the atmosphere as the rocket descends. The purpose of this experiment was to calculate the percentage of pollutants in the air. A winch was installed to close the parachute in order to prevent ground contamination of the filter due to the expectation of the launch field being wet on launch day. As part of the team, my role was the visual designer where I solely designed and applied the rocket's cosmetic appearance, I was a Safety Officer and in charge of ensuring all safety codes and procedures were followed as well as preparing the safety guidelines in the report to NASA, and thirdly I was on the construction team to carry out the rocket's planned design.
